# Send the check-in link

> Copy a guest's check-in link to send it yourself over any channel, and preview what your guests see before you send it.

Vidimo emails an invitation to check in online as soon as a booking lands, and
its button opens the guest's check-in directly. But that only reaches guests
whose email address came with the booking. Plenty don't: a channel may pass no
address at all, and many guests answer on WhatsApp without ever opening their
inbox.

The **Self check-in link** is that same check-in, as a link you hold. Copy it,
paste it into whatever conversation you're already having with the guest, and
they land straight on their check-in with nothing to sign in to.

<Note>
  To check whether the automatic invitation reached a particular guest, or to
  send it again, see **Check-in invitation** on the reservation itself in
  [View a reservation](/reservations/view-a-reservation). To turn the automatic
  invitation on or off for the whole property, see
  [Guest emails](/properties/guest-emails).
</Note>

## Copy the link

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the reservation">
    On the [Calendar](/reservations/calendar), tap the booking's bar to open the
    **Reservation Details** sheet.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find Self check-in link">
    Scroll down to **Self check-in link**, near the bottom of the sheet.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tap Copy">
    The link goes to your clipboard. Paste it into a guest chat, a WhatsApp
    message, or an email you're writing yourself.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The link is specific to that one booking, so it opens that guest's check-in and
no one else's. Send it only to the guest it belongs to.

## Preview what your guest sees

**Preview** opens the very same link in your browser, so you see the check-in
exactly as the guest meets it: the steps you're asking them to complete, your
property's name and colours, and how much work it actually is.

<Warning>
  Preview signs you in as that guest. Anything you tap counts as their check-in,
  so accepting the house rules or picking an arrival time on a real booking
  records it against them. Look, don't complete.
</Warning>

## Where the link points

If you've connected [your own domain](/properties/property-website), the link
uses it, so what you send carries your property's name rather than ours.

## How long it lasts

A link keeps working through the stay and for a week after check-out, which
leaves room for a guest who still owes you their details after they've left.

No link lasts more than six months, however far off the stay is. If you copy one
many months ahead of an arrival, copy a fresh one nearer the date.

On a cancelled booking the section doesn't appear: there's nothing left to check
into.

## Who can send it

The same people who can edit a reservation: **owners**, **managers**, and
**receptionists**. See [Roles and permissions](/team/roles-and-permissions).

Each time a link is created it's recorded in the property's history, with who
created it and for which booking.
