The Tourist tax setting holds a written instruction that tells the
assistant how to calculate the tourist (city) tax for each booking at a
property. Vidimo can draft it for you from your property’s location using
AI. You then review and edit it freely. You remain responsible for the
figures.
You’ll find it in the property settings, under Tourist tax.
What you see
At the top, the Location box shows the property’s country, and the city and
region from its address. The jurisdiction is read from there, not edited on this
screen. If it’s wrong or missing, tap Edit address to fix it on the
property’s info page.
The Tax instruction field holds the actual brief. Next to its label, a
small status tag tells you where the instruction stands:
Next to the status, the screen shows a version such as · v2. It goes up by
one each time the instruction is regenerated or saved, so you can tell at a
glance whether you’re looking at the latest revision.
Generate the instruction
Confirm the location
Make sure the Location box shows the right city and country. If the
property has neither a country nor an address, the AI has no jurisdiction
to research and the generate button stays disabled.
Set the Category and Currency
Category is the category your local tourist tax is set by: how the
municipality or tax office classifies the property, not how you market
it. Some categories change the tax for every guest, such as a campsite in
France. See Category below. Currency is the
currency the tax is charged in, e.g. EUR. Generate with AI
Tap Generate brief with AI (it reads Regenerate with AI once an
instruction already exists). The status switches to Generating… and the
app researches your local tax rules. This can take a few minutes. You can
leave the page and it keeps running.
If the property has neither a country nor an address yet, you’ll see a prompt
to set one first so the AI knows which jurisdiction to research. Add the address on the property
info page, then come back.
Category
Where Vidimo has a list for the property’s country, Category is a list of
the accommodation categories that country’s tourist tax distinguishes, in the
local name with the English one beside it. Pick the one the property is
registered as. Under the field, a short description says what the category
covers and what it changes for the tax, with a Source link to the rules
it comes from.
If none of them fits, pick Other (describe) and type the category in your
own words. In a country Vidimo has no list for yet, Category is a plain
text field.
The country comes from the property’s address. If the list shows the wrong
country’s categories, fix the address on the property info page.
The calculation reads the category on every booking. A category with its own
rate (for example a French campsite, which has its own row in the national
tariff grid) sets the tax for every guest of the property, and a rule for some
guests only (for example half the tax for guests aged 18 to 30 at a Slovenian
youth hostel in the IYHF network) applies to those guests. Tap Save after
changing it. Bookings that have not ended yet then show that their figure
changed, so you can Recompute them. The same happens when you change the
category and tap Regenerate with AI.
The rates themselves come from the Tax instruction. If the property already
has one, saving a new category, or moving the property to another country,
shows that the instruction was written for the previous category or country,
since the calculation still follows it. Tap Regenerate the instruction, or
edit the instruction to match, before recomputing bookings. The instruction
can be generated a few times a day per property; past that, the page says so
and keeps the category you picked.
In Slovenia you enter each guest in AJPES yourself for now. If the figure
here applies a reduction beyond the age bands (the IYHF half rate for guests
aged 18 to 30, a reduction in your tax instruction, or one you recorded in a
booking’s tax note), choose that reduction’s tax class for the guest in
AJPES, not the one their age gives.
Edit and save
When generation finishes, the drafted instruction appears in Tax
instruction and any Sources the AI used are listed below as links you can
open to check its work.
Read it through, edit the text as needed (rates, taxable base, age bands, caps
and exemptions), then tap Save. The status becomes
Edited by you and you’ll see a Saved confirmation.
The Save button is only available once an instruction exists. If you
haven’t generated one yet, the screen reminds you to Generate a brief first
to enable editing.
The instruction is AI-drafted from public sources. Always verify the rates
and rules against your local authority. You remain responsible for the
amounts charged to guests.
